Loveland Castle {Landscape Photography/Travel}
It's August and we're still posting photos from our trip to Ohio. I don't think we realized just how many photos we actually took while we were there. Here's yet another post on a pretty awesome place we visited while we were there.
Nestled in Loveland, Ohio is this small, but fascinating castle known as "Loveland Castle", but it's official name is Chateau Laroche. This castle is interesting mostly because of its history, but also because of the unique spy holes and other characteristics it offers. This castle was built by one man, Harry Delos Andrews. This man served in the military during WWI as a medic. Once the war was over, he stayed in Europe studying castles that were built over there. When he came back to the US, he ended up getting this property that is on a hill by a river. He used river rock to build the entire castle. It's quite impressive the story behind how this castle came to be. The castle is filled with spy holes, has a dungeon, a balcony, and is everything you would expect to see in a castle. The castle even has a beautiful flower garden that we spent quite some time in.
The day we went, we took both kids and the heat was miserable. Our daughter enjoyed riding in her backpack that we take everywhere when we have the kids with us. It's a lifesaver. Without that backpack it would be near impossible to photograph/film the things we do sometimes. Even though we're originally from Ohio, we'd never been to the castle before. It was a whole new experience for all of us. Our son loved the castle. He liked looking around and seeing all suits of armor. The kids' favorite part of the castle was the garden. Our daughter loves flowers, and our son fell in love with the little pond they have with Koi. Despite the heat, we all had a great time and came out with some pretty great photos.
Something that I think is pretty neat is that they allow couples to get married in the castle and they hold different fun events there.
