One Summer Evening {Our Son Turns 5}
5 years ago on the 18th of August it was like any other day. I woke up in the morning when Don (my husband) went to work, and did some things around the house. I noticed that my back was hurting more than it had been lately during my pregnancy, and decided to start taking it easy. I spent most of the afternoon on the couch relaxing and watching TV. Later I got up and made dinner. Don came home from work, and then we all sat down to eat dinner. I took a couple bites of my Au Gratin potatoes, then suddenly my water broke. We started rushing around to get to the hospital (45 minute drive), and once we were there about 20 minutes later our awesome little boy was born just before 8pm. He was 7lbs 5oz and so tiny and precious! His birth was so fast that he was born all natural. The nurses figured I had been in labor all day. I just didn't feel like I was. I'm thankful that everything went quickly and very nearly painless. It's a beautiful memory that we all share.
Now here we are 5 years later and he's such an amazing sweet little boy. One of his favorite things in the whole world is monster trucks. We record all the new Monster Jams for him, and he loves watching it while he plays with his trucks. He has over 30 now. Usually I made his birthday cake, but I wanted to do something special this year. I decided to order him a Monster Jam cake. He was in love with it the moment he saw it. His day was awesome. He got his third stripe in taekwondo so he can test for his new belt, he got a cake he loves, had a friend over to play and got a bunch of new monster trucks (including the ones on his cake). A 5-year-olds dream come true! Happy birthday to our little man! We love you so very much!
If you're looking for someone who makes awesome cakes in the Dover, DE area you can check out Memories by the Bite. Iesha Duffy is very talented, and the cake was delicious! I would definitely recommend her to anyone who has a birthday or cool event coming up that requires a special cake.
