A Powerful Classic | 1970 Chevelle | Light Painting Photography
Classic Car Love
It's a common stereotype that women aren't really into cars, but it's not true for me. I have loved cars for many years. Something I truly love are classic cars, especially ones like this 1970 Chevelle. I can truly appreciate those who own classic cars and keep them up for shows. Watching the Barrett Jackson classic car auctions are fun for me, and something I look forward to when I have time. You can imagine how much of a treat it was to be able to photograph this car. I thoroughly enjoyed every second of it.
How We Did It
The owner of this beautiful Chevelle is a friend of my husband's. After he had shown him some of our light painting photo work, he decided that he would like to have his car (and truck) photographed using this process. This photo is of just the car itself, but we are going to create a composite where we put the car in the photograph of the C-5 that we already shot last summer. Once that photo is done, we'll share it with you.
We had to take the car out to the AMC Museum at night to take pictures of the car with a similar ground that the C-5 sits on. After doing several test shots and trying some other ideas we got to work with what would be the final version. This image is several shots compiled together to create the full image of the Chevelle. The shoot for this image was grueling because it had gotten pretty chilly that night. I was wearing a T-shirt, sweatshirt and a hoodie. It wasn't enough. However, it was fun getting the shot anyway. It was working on 3:00am by the time we left. I think we came out of it with an awesome image.
What's Up Next
Here soon we will have another awesome project up on the blog. It's still in the editing process, and I'm not sure how much longer it'll be there, but it's coming. It's just as awesome as this project, and it was definitely enjoyable. If you like seeing what we're up to, go ahead and subscribe to the blog where you'll get notifications whenever we post something new.
