A Special Visitor | Scott Jarvie | Faith in America Project | Dover, Delaware
Who Is Scott Jarvie
If you haven't heard of Scott Jarvie before, you're going to hear about him now. He's a photographer based out of Utah that shoots landscapes, street photography, architecture and people. Some people know him for his work as a wedding photographer while others know him for his work with landscapes and architecture. He's wanting to start working on more projects that interest him, and it's great to see other photographers working towards following their creative desires.
Scott's Faith In America Project
For the last year, Scott has been traveling around with his Airstream all over America photographing churches. He's been to all 50 states now and is finishing up the last photos of churches he plans to take. The photos he chooses will be printed in a book. Pre-sales for the book are already being accepted on his website. So far throughout this journey, he's photographed over 3,000 churches, and he's estimating about 200 that will actually end up printed in the book. All of this is to promote faith in America. During this project, Scott has been visiting people who support him and his project. Throughout this whole adventure traveling to all 50 states, he has filmed himself along the way and uploaded the videos to his YouTube channel for his followers to keep up with him. Recently, he's started an account with Patreon for his followers to help support him to work on this project and many others that he's planning on. If you haven't heard of him before, make sure you check out his website to see his work. It's absolutely beautiful!
He Made It To Delaware
When Scott told us he would be coming to Delaware and staying with us it was exciting news. We have been following his work/project since the beginning and it was an awesome feeling knowing that we would be able to talk with him and possibly go photograph some things together. The same evening that he arrived, we were already out taking photos in Delaware Amish country. A couple days later, we were in downtown Baltimore, MD shooting photos, meeting a friend of his for lunch and taking him to the airport so he could shoot a wedding in California over the weekend. While he was gone, Don worked on making some repairs (and improvements) to the Airstream for him. We enjoyed having him around, and it was great to talk to another photographer who is just as passionate about what he does as we are.
Where Do We Go From Here
After Scott stayed with us and talking with him, we're more motivated and inspired than ever to continue our art and doing great things with Redstream Digital. He reinforced things that we were already working very hard on applying to our business, and it's great to hear that we're on the right track. Sometimes as an artist it is easy to become discouraged, and often times it's hard to know if you're on the road to success or if you just took a detour. The biggest thing through it all is to keep doing things you're passionate about. What does this mean for Redstream Digital? It means that we're going to keep working hard at producing beautiful art that we're proud of. It's not always clear about which projects will turn out to be successful ones. A lot of times, we're just going out on a limb satisfying our need to create something amazing, and hope that others will think it's pretty amazing too. We've been talking about doing vlogs for a long while, but haven't put anything together yet. This is something we're going to start doing in the near future. We want to connect with you in more ways than just this blog and posts on Facebook/Instagram.
Setting The Wheels In Motion
We're already working on our next big project. Literally, tomorrow we will be taking off for a few days to go hang out at PhotoPlus (a huge photo/video expo) up in New York City as well as go take photos of the city. We had never heard of PhotoPlus before, but Scott mentioned it to us and it sounded so awesome we couldn't pass up the opportunity. We're heading up to the expo to check out the latest and greatest as well as do some networking with other photographers. As for photos, we have plans for some sweet photos. We've been talking about places to go photograph, and different ideas we have for images that we're sure will be spectacular. We can't wait to get started, and if you follow us on Instagram and Facebook you might be able to get see some cool stuff that may not appear on the blog.
