Honoring Our Military: Memorial Day {Fine Art Photography}
Monday was Memorial Day, and this is a holiday that is close to our hearts. Memorial Day is to honor all who have served in our military and those who are currently serving. We also take time to remember those who gave their lives for our freedom as well as those who were prisoners of war. Memorial Day is a special day for us because my husband is in the Air Force and we have many family members who are currently serving or are veterans that served in various branches of the armed forces. We appreciate all our family members do and have done for our freedom and the sacrifices that were given each day.
This Memorial Day was spent with family at a local cemetery in Middletown, OH. My husband's grandmother served in the Air Force, and is a member of one of the local American Legions in the area. We spent the morning with her watching the parade and then heading to the cemetery to enjoy the Memorial Day service that was held there. We met some interesting people, and the service was great. The most amazing part of the service was the guy who jumped out of a plane and let a large American flag unfold while he was spiraling down to the ground. It was a sight that one shouldn't miss given the opportunity. The auxiliary fired their guns, some talented individuals sang some songs that are dear to our country, taps were played, and someone even played a saxophone with a song that is also very special to us, and speeches were given. It really made one think about what is given for our freedom, and those who gave all for it.
The photos above are a few that were taken that day at the cemetery and during the service. We hope you all had a wonderful Memorial Day, and that you thanked a veteran, someone currently serving and their families that day.
