The Trip

A few weeks ago, on a Sunday, we wanted to get out and take photos. This is often how our photo trips start out. We want to get out there to photograph something. Most of the time we leave with a plan on where we are going to do, but this particular day we just took off figuring we would decide not long after the wheels started turning. The initial plan was to drive down south to Rehoboth Beach or something of that nature, but we decided that we wanted a change of scenery. We started heading north instead. We didn't have a plan on where to go, but figured we'd come up with something. We took a road we usually don't drive to go north, and thought we might find something interesting along the way. We stopped at a beach where fishing is the main activity, and decided to get back in the truck and keep driving. We were on the road for about 15 minutes or so when we came across a lookout that we'd never seen before. It was time to get out and investigate.

The Photo

When we walked up to the lookout tower we noticed that it had this industrial/rustic/urban look to it that just caught our eye. On top of the lookout, you can see over the marsh grass, and look down on the creek. There were plenty of birds around, and it was a nice peaceful place. With the lookout catching our eye, there was no way to leave without photographing it somehow. This is what we came up with. It really catches the feeling that we were looking for, while the stairs sort of invite you in. I love the graffiti. Even though it only says "Lo" I like that it's there because it you feel that people have been there before. It also gives it an urban kind of vibe that I really like. It's sort of big city and backwoods mixed together.

New Inspiration

I love it when we're able to do things that are a bit different than the usual. I've been wanting to do urban photos for a long time, but haven't had the change. This is an ever so slight taste of what I'd like to try. It gives me a better sense of where I'd like to go with that once I'm in the ideal location. I think this will be great for Hawaii once we get there. I'm hoping to get up to New York City before the cold weather sets in. I've been dying to do some photos there. I have lots of great ideas that I can't wait to try out.
