Autumn Arrives

Autumn is finally here! Yesterday marked the first day of this season that I love so much. I've waited since spring for this time of the year to finally roll around, and we've made it! I know there are a lot of people who could forgo the cooler weather and dread the coming snow that winter brings. For me though, Autumn is a different story.

Why It's My Favorite Season

There are many reasons why I love this season. I think one of the biggest reasons, for me, is that it marks the beginning of the holiday season. I don't get so excited over Halloween, even though the kids enjoy trick or treating. I like harvest time. Really, harvest is just a time marker showing me that Thanksgiving and Christmas as soon to follow. I love taking our kids to the pumpkin patch to pick out their own pumpkins, and it's something they love doing. Of course, I always have my camera in hand while we're out having fun deciding which pumpkins will come home with us.

Another thing that I really love about Autumn would be the memories of bonfires at school when I was younger. That is something we haven't done with our kids yet, and I'd love to share that with them as a family. Making smores over the fire with hot apple cider sounds like a perfect evening to me. The cooler weather is always welcome. I'm not a warm summer type person. I prefer to wear hoodies and jeans outside, and I find the heat of summer uncomfortable (even though this year it didn't get so unbearable).

I always indulge everything pumpkin this time of year. I always have pumpkin spice cappuccino in the house (thanks to Byler's), but I seem to enjoy it more when we have cool mornings. Pumpkin pie has always been a favorite dessert, and in recent years I've started making fresh pumpkin bread that my whole family loves. When we're out and about traveling, I like to stop at Wawa to get a pumpkin spice chai tea (Don likes the pumpkin coffee). Blankets are my best friend. Often times, I like to curl up underneath a soft blanket with my pumpkin pleasures and watch a movie. Not only do I get a lot of pumpkin food/drinks, but I also have something else that I can never resist about this season. I always buy Autumn themed candles from Yankee Candle. Two of my favorites are Pumpkin Pie and Apple Cider. My house always smells delicious (I always have candles), but these are the scents I prefer most.

I am a football fan. I don't claim to follow all the details of players, etc., but I do love watching my favorite teams play. I'm more of a college football fan, but I also watch pro. The University of Michigan is the rival team from the state I'm from, but I bleed blue. My pro team would be the Green Bay Packers, and on occasion I've been known to cheer the Steelers on. I have a lot of great marching band memories that goes along with the season (and football).

I'm always glued to the window watching the trees waiting for them to start changing color. The beautiful colors of Autumn captivate me. My camera is always ready to go this time of year. I absolutely love photographing nature, and I especially like to catch special moments with my kids while they're exploring the colorful world around them.

Conclusion

I'm a nut for Autumn. I love the season so much that we named our daughter Autumn. She was born in August, but I had to name her after what I believe is the most beautiful season. If you want to know anything about me at all, I'd say that knowing my preferred season is probably one of the top things you could learn about me.
