American Sniper? | Barrett 50 Caliber Sniper Rifle | Light Painting | Delaware Photographer
American Sniper?
I know that the movie American Sniper directed by Clint Eastwood came out recently, and there’s been a ton of hype over that film. I’ve heard all my friends talking about it on Facebook and they’re all looking forward to going to it or have already seen it. I haven’t seen the film yet, but I’m certainly interested in checking it out. Since Clint Eastwood was the director for the film, I’m sure that it’s an incredible “must see” movie. However, the photo of the Barrett 50 cal sniper rifle that is up on the blog today was actually photographed before we realized that American Sniper was going to be coming out. We hadn’t heard anything about the film, so it’s kind of convenient that we’re posting this photo now.
The Story
The 50 cal that you see photographed above actually belongs to a friend (who will remain nameless). This individual was willing to allow us to photograph his Barrett, so we jumped on it. This photo was taken a little while back in the cold at night. It’s a light painted photo, so it was completely dark when the photo was taken. We use a light to lit the image only where we want light. This particular image is actually a few photos merged together and edited in Photoshop.
What Is Next?
This wasn’t the only photo that was taken on this occasion, and we have a plan for these photos. We are working on photographing enough military type images to create a calendar that we’ll put together and sell. We’re also looking at doing a calendar that is oriented toward guns as well as many other different themes. We just need people who have unique firearms that they’re willing to let us photograph and use in the calendar. When we get all the images we need, and design the calendar we’ll start selling them on our website.
