Seeing Our World In 4K!

Introducing 4K!

There has been a huge hype over 4K for a while now. The 4K TVs have become a hit and even YouTube has started supporting 4K. People are just beginning to experience 4K, and it has been awesome for those who have truly been able to see it. We have been riding on 1080p for a while and have been dying to step it up a notch. With a very nice octocopter that we have invested a lot of time and money into plus all the other equipment we have purchased over the years we really wanted to keep up with the changing technology. We all know how hard that can be. Investing money into 4K just wasn't in the cards for us until very recently. We've been keeping up with discussions in our field about different cameras and what worked best for people. After some serious thought we decided on the Panasonic Lumix GH4. Below is a sample video straight from one of our GH4s. You won't be able to really see the 4K unless you are viewing the video on a screen that has a high enough resolution to show it. You'll have to see it on your 4K TV or Retina Display Mac.

Why The Panasonic Lumix GH4?

To put it simply, there are three reasons why this camera really appealed to us. 1. It has a good price on it 2. we wanted to be able to continue using our Canon lenses and 3. it is small enough to fit into tight places to get "the shot". We were seriously debating between the GH4 and the Blackmagic Cinema Camera for a while. They both have their positive point and they both shoot 4K video. When it came down to it, I would have to say that the GH4 being smaller is probably more important than the price in our case. We definitely wanted 4K and having the ability to fit this nicely on our octocopter was a priority. We usually carry around a lot of stuff with us when we're filming, and having smaller cameras would make a big difference too. Also, when it comes to getting in tight spaces this actually happens a lot, and it's better to have a camera that can easily manage this. Something else that was important to us was that we wanted to continue using our Canon lenses. We have put a lot of money in lenses and to have to all new lenses for a camera to film with was just insane. So, to be able to do this we bought the Metabones Speed Boosters for each of the cameras with the Canon EF mount. This allows us to keep using our current lenses for video and to not have to carry around two complete sets of lenses for both our video cameras and our photography cameras. Lastly, the price of all these things allowed us to purchase two GH4s; which is important since we want to shoot full 4K as much as possible. Having only one camera doesn't work since there's always at least two cameras rolling at once. All of these things made the GH4 a logical choice.

New Filming Adventures

So, with that being said, we are definitely going to be filming more now that things have settled down and we have our new GH4 cameras. We will be doing some short films, videos of Hawaii and we will be open to clients for video services soon too. We're looking forward to getting back into video. We have been doing so much photography lately because of the move, etc., but now we're back into the filming side of things.

Collaboration

Also, we love collaborating with others on video projects and are always looking for musicians who would like to have their music featured on some videos. If you are interested in finding out how to collaborate with us shoot us a message via this website or contact us through Facebook/Instagram.
