We're Back! | Hawaii Photographer & Videographer

Aloha

You guessed it… we made it to Hawaii! We’ve been wanting to share some things with you for a while now, but we’ve had so much going on that we haven’t had time to update our blog. That doesn’t mean we haven’t been exploring! We have some photos that we’ll share with you a little later in this blog.

Trip to Hawaii

Traveling with Kids

There’s no doubt that traveling with kids is a feat in itself, but spending 15 hours in airports and on flights was something new to us. We’ve made long road trips before, and those can get tiring toward the end. Usually the kids are ready to get out of their car seats and have some freedom. We didn’t know what to expect of these long flights, and wanted to try to prepare for the worst case scenario with the kids. The night before our flight out, we stayed in a hotel in Philadelphia that was supposed to be nice, but that didn’t turn out as we expected. The room was dirty, and caused the four of us to not get much sleep (if any). We had to be at the airport by 5:00 a.m. making an already long night turn into a long night and day. After checking our eight checked bags, we had a very expensive breakfast. Once we boarded the first plane, the kids loved it, but neither of them stayed awake very long. Us parents were very thankful for that since we also wanted to snooze a bit on the flight from Philly to Denver. The layover in Denver was basically jump off the plane and run to catch the next flight. We barely had time to grab a snack for all of us in between; however, we made it to the plane and were ready for that seven hour flight. Between the two flights, this was the one the kids were awake the biggest part of the time. We ended up with a cranky two-year-old who refused to take a nap until the last couple of hours into the flight. Needless to say, when the pilot said we were coming in on the final approach to Honolulu we were all very glad that we were about to get off the plane. When we did get off, our daughter (who is two) darted off the plane leaving us behind. She wasn’t too far ahead, but she didn’t waste any time. She was ready to be off the plane. Overall, the trip wasn’t bad. We half expected to have upset kids most of the day, but they were pretty content with the situation.

Waikiki First Night

First Beach Trip

That first evening we were here in Hawaii, we went to a beach a couple blocks away from the hotel we were staying at. Don had promised the kids that the first day we were here that we would go to the beach. By the time we got settled in at the hotel, it was starting to get dark. We needed to get dinner, but we went to the beach first to keep the promise to the kids that we would go to the beach the first day we were in Hawaii. They loved it, and it was relaxing to go there after the long day of traveling.

So Much More

We've finally gotten pretty well settled in. We have a house and most of our things are unpacked. We have all of our photography and video equipment back, so we are fully operational again as far as that stuff goes. We've been in Hawaii now for a month, and have shared a lot of photos to our Facebook and Instagram. We're just now getting to the point where we have time to do blogs and vlogs. From this point on, you can expect to see a lot of new stuff up on here. If you want to see behind the scenes stuff, follow us on Instagram and make sure to subscribe to our blog. We like sharing the stories behind photos and events here, so you can really get to know more about the photo or get to know us.
