I've Always Dreamed Of Seeing The World | Oahu, Hawaii Photographer
- Amazing Scenic Views -
Ever since I was a young girl I dreamed of seeing the world. Growing up, I thought Ohio was boring, and I could not wait until I was able to leave. Recently, someone said to us “there’s no place like home” speaking of Ohio. I’ve spent eight years living in Delaware and no longer see Ohio as my home. Yes, I grew up there, but I don’t see it as home. I don’t even really miss it. I miss family and friends who still live there, but I do not miss Ohio itself. I cannot even say that Delaware is better than Ohio because it’s not. It’s just another place… just flatter and more populated. Moving to Delaware was exciting for me. It was the first time I would ever live outside of Ohio, and it was a place I had never been. Even though it was a new place, I still carried the dream of traveling the world in my heart. We didn’t have a lot of money, and when we did we spent it on trips back to Ohio to see family and friends. The move to Hawaii was unexpected, and has proven to be a place full of opportunity for us to take awesome photo and video. Now that we’re pretty much settled in the middle of the Pacific, we plan to start doing some more traveling. Island hopping is on our list of things to do. Maui is pretty high on the list along with the Island of Hawai’i. To get our fix of the cold, Alaska is on the list as well. We will probably go to California and Utah possibly. We want to travel to Europe too, but we’re planning on places in the U.S. first. Why have I always wanted to travel? The answer is because I want to see all of the beautiful things in the world. I love seeing photographs of these places, but I want to experience them first hand and take my own photos/video of these places. The photo below is one of the first of many that I want to add to my collection of photos (aka memories).
- Why I Take Photos -
If someone would have asked me this seven years ago when I first got into photography seriously, I probably would have answered “because I like taking photos”. While this is true, that I do enjoy taking them, there are other reasons too. The first one is simply because I like freezing moments in time to remember later. They are visual memories of things I’ve seen, and I like being able to preserve them. Another reason is because I like showing people the beauty of the things I see. The photos I produce are my vision of how I see things. In a way, it’s the beauty I see in the world and am sharing it with those who see the images. They’re also my art. This kind of goes hand in hand with the last one. They are a way that I express myself, and represents my creativity and skill. Taking all of these things together, shows that my photography is not “work” to me. It’s fun/art/work all combined into one.
