Another Rainy Hike | Hawaii Photographer
Rain Rain Go Away...
In Hawaii rain is so spotty. You will be in perfect sunshine with rain, perfect sunshine then suddenly it clouds up and rains and then there's the misty rain that comes as goes no matter what it looks like outside... unless you're on the west side of the island. It rains a good deal in the mountains, and from several miles away you can tell that it's raining there just by looking. However, rain in Hawaii doesn't stop you from doing the fun outdoor activities you like to do. You just keep on going knowing the rain will stop soon. We've been here a little over a month now and I have yet to find a storm like what we're used to in Ohio and Delaware. It's something to get used to and I'm actually missing the storms.
Pushing On In The Rain
As I mentioned earlier, in Hawaii you kind of just keep going about your outdoor plans regardless of whether it's raining or not. We started out on the southwest side of the island; which is pretty hot and dry most of the time. It was sunny and hot. As we got closer to the mountains the air was so cool that having the top down on our Jeep was getting uncomfortable. We were on our way up the side of the mountain getting to the trail entrance when it started misting rain. It wasn't too bad, and then it started getting harder; which forced us to pull over and put the top up. It was raining pretty good when we made it to the entrance of the trail, and suddenly the rain slowed to the point where it was barely even misting. Most of our hike on the trail was pretty good after that. We were covered with the trees leaving us dry even though these clouds (seen in the image above) were still hanging out for the bigger part of our trip. We were able to get this photo; which is pretty moody with the grey clouds and the dark contrast in the mountain, etc. This photo is beautiful even without it being a bright sunny day.
