Flying High On Ford Island
Biggest Little Airshow
Last Saturday we made a trip out to Ford Island to the Pacific Aviation Musem for the Biggest Little Airshow. The kids love planes no matter if they are the actual aircraft or models, so this was something they were going to enjoy. There were a lot of scale model aircraft at the event both on display and being flown. The scale aircraft are larger than the kit RC planes. They have been used in movies in place of actual aircraft. The Corsair, (second photo in slideshow), is over $5,000,000 to buy a real one and if it were damaged during filming that would be tragic both for the plane and for the pocket. Planes like the Corsair are rare to come by especially in good condition. Using the scale model aircraft is both cheaper and easier to come by. Aside from the model aircraft and helicopters, there were activities for the kids and concessions. The kids wanted to do some of the kids activities, so we let them do their thing and watched planes fly. We ended the day with shaved ice for the kids; which they loved and needed since it was a hot day. The kids had fun and slept in the Jeep on our way home. It was a good day for all of us.
Just For Fun
We went to the airshow mainly for the kids and to get out of the house, but we took photos while we were there just for fun and for memories. Most of the photos we take and put up for display are done with a modern look. They're clean and vibrant for the most part. This event being what it was without any obligation to get something to sell, I decided to have some fun with the photo below of the model Japanese Zero. I did our usual modern photo and then decided to have some fun with it. The next photo is the exact same, only it is made to look like it's analog with dust and scratches on it. I thought it fit the subject well. This just goes to show how different the same photo could look with different ways of processing it.
