The Byodo-In Temple Visit

Finally Visited The Byodo-In Temple

Before moving to Hawaii, I had a year and a half to do research and figure out where I wanted to go when we arrived on Oahu. It didn't take long for the Byodo-In to pop up in my research and it certainly made it on the list of places to check out. The Byodo-In temple is a Buddhist temple that was made to replicate the one in Japan that was built roughly 950 years earlier. On the grounds of the Byodo-In Temple, there is the sacred bell, a meditation pavilion, a pond with Koi, swans, peacocks and several Buddhas. If I had to use one word to describe the Byodo-In Temple it would be peaceful. It is also very beautiful, but peaceful is certainly the word I would use. The kids even enjoyed the peacefulness and beauty that the temple offers. Of course, one of their obsessions was the Koi and the sacred bell. It wasn't very expensive to go see and is easily located. If you had 48 hours to visit Oahu and asked what you should see/do... the Byodo-In Temple would be on the list for sure.
