Tip Tuesday: Who is The Best Photographer For Your Wedding? {Delaware Wedding Photographer}

First off, Tip Tuesday is incredibly late this week. I had planned on publishing the post on Tuesday, and I ended up having to work on some other things instead. Many apologies for the tardiness of the post. Sometimes we just have to take care of other things first, so now that I have a few free minutes I'll post the Tip Tuesday post for the week... On FRIDAY!

Since we're just starting into the wedding season I figured now would be a good time to post about things you should consider when you're trying to decide on a wedding photographer. You might be surprised to learn that there are many brides and grooms who aren't sure what they're looking for in their wedding photographer. They just know they would like to have the day preserved in photographs that will be beautiful and be great heirlooms. This is a great place to start, but you need to have an idea of the style of photos you like before you can really narrow down the long list of wedding photographers out there. Let's talk about a few things that would be helpful...

1. Style -  The photographer's style is one of the first things you should look at after you decide the type of photographer you're seeking. Their portfolio/website, their Facebook, Google+, Twitter and even Instagram are great places to find their most recent work. Do the photos look vintage or modern? Do they display vibrant colors or are the colors moderate? Can you see yourself purchasing pictures that look like the ones you see? If you like the way the images look as far as whether they look modern, vintage, vibrant, warm whatever... then they may be a good choice for you. Hiring a photographer without seeing their work first is never a good idea. You really need to like their work before you hire them. If you don't like what you see, then you should continue your search until you find someone who has a style you like.

2. Pro or Faux - You've seen their work... Do their photographs look professional, or do they look like a 12-year-old might have taken them? You need to make sure that the photographer you choose is a professional. If you hire them and they're not, you will be putting your once in a lifetime wedding memories at risk. Just because someone says they're a photographer doesn't mean they know how to provide you with photos that are going to be beautiful and preserve your wedding day perfectly. It does take more than knowing how to push a button to take quality photos. Furthermore, it takes skill and creativity to develop art that you are going to want to hang on your walls and fill an album with.

3. Budget - Your budget is important, but it doesn't come before the first two things on the list. You want to make sure that you like their style and that they're a pro before you spend any money on them. If the photographer has their pricing on their website take a look once you've seen their work and established that they're a pro. See if their prices are within your budget. If they don't have their prices listed, then send them a message through the contact form or give them a call if their number is available. Talking with them about their pricing is always great because if they have more details than what can be found on their website, this information could be a deciding factor about whether you choose them or go with someone else.

4. Good Fit - After you've looked into the other three points, you should talk with them in person to see if they're going to be a good fit for you. Do they listen to what you say is important to get out of your wedding photography? Do they answer your questions? Can you see yourself working with them and establishing a relationship that will result in a positive outcome for your wedding day? Do you "click"? When you book your wedding with a photographer it should be the beginning of your relationship with them. You need to feel like you can trust them to capture all the moments that mean the most to you, and do it in a creative and beautiful way. You need to know that they're listening to you when you tell them what moments are most important for them to capture. If you feel like your personalities work well together, then that is a good sign. If you feel like they're not listening, that you're not seeing eye to eye, or that your personalities clash it might be a good idea to look for someone whom you feel like you can work well with and will give you images of your wedding day that you will love.

Now that we've covered a few essential tips for choosing your wedding photographer, we hope that this helps you out with your search for your wedding photography needs.
