The Reason Why Photos & Video Are So Important {Photo & Cinema}
Why are photos and video so important? This question can be answered in different ways, but probably the most important reason is to capture all the moments that mean so much to us especially when loved ones have passed on, or when it becomes hard to remember the things that were once so fresh in our mind.
The voices of great grandparents captured on video is something that will send the memories rushing back, and your kids will love knowing what their family sounded like. The video above and photos below were shot on a cheap point and shoot camera in 2009 the year our son was born. The quality of the video/audio is horrible, but we will always cherish these videos because of the memories and the loved ones in them. We were going through some of our old files earlier this week and came across these videos. Our son and daughter have my husband's grandmother left and my grandfather. It's awesome to have the video clips for the kids to hear their voices.
The photos above are of my grandparents (left two photos) and us with my husband's grandparents (photo on right). Unfortunately, I only have one photo of my other grandmother and I have not come across it to scan it into the computer yet. Both of my grandmother's have passed away, and I miss them both dearly. My kids will not have any memories of them, but I do have a few photos and videos that I can share with them. My husband's grandfather passed away the same year that my grandmother (on left) passed away. It was a rough year for us both. The people that mean so much to us can be captured in photos during family photo sessions, weddings, and many other special occasions. These are the only things we will have left to pass on to our children along with the stories of our memories.
Pictures and video are a way to reach out to the ones we love. Sometimes even when they are elderly and suffering from the effects of Alzheimer's and Dementia the photos and video can bring them back for short periods of time if even for an instant. Don't make excuses for not capturing family reunions or getting family photos taken. These are the only things that will last long enough to pass on the stories and memories to your children. As the saying goes, "Don't wait for tomorrow may be too late."
